I have been MIA from here for a while…
A lot happened in life lately including quitting my job.
This does not mean I changed careers. No, I love Insurance so much so that I have decided to branch out a bit. Instead of being an Agent working for one company, I now work for myself as an Insurance broker, based in Brampton.
Who is a Broker? What does he/she do?
A broker will deal with several Insurance companies at a time which will be put him/her in a much better position to serve the clients well with insurance needs.Working with more companies mean more choices or options if you will to present to the client.
A certain product is too expensive for your client? Switch to an Insurance company who will provide the same product for much cheaper rate.
A certain exclusion from a certain carrier does not sound appealing to your client? Enjoy the freedom to look around until you find that carrier who will actually provide the same coverage under favorable terms.
Client requesting more coverage? Why not help them shop and find that one carrier or Insurance company who will provide with exactly what they are looking for!
Happy client translates to good business! Add personal touch to your services and the clientele is yours to keep forever…
I have always wanted to to do this.
Going from Agent to a Broker.
Considering it a risky or rather scary move, I put this dream in the back burner for quite a while..until now.
In June, I have had enough. I gave the notice to quit and walked out of the office 2 weeks later.
Next, I got my LLQP license ( Life Insurance License) and currently set to write RIBO (Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario) exam next week. Once I pass that exam and get my license, I am set to work as a broker! Yay me! I am so excited
This is the beginning of a new chapter and I can’t wait to see where it takes me…
What are the areas I will be focusing on as an Insurance Broker?
As usual, Home and Auto Insurance, personal lines is definitely on the list.
RIBO will enable me to sell business and commercial insurance (This, I am very excited about)
New addition to my career, is Life and Health Insurance. I will be advising my clients on their Life insurance and Investment needs, critical illness, Disability insurance etc..
So, what do you think?
Awesome, isn’t it? I was always in awe of the term, “Self-Employed”. I have always admired people who own their business. I knew they were really smart and determined. They had the courage to follow their dreams and work for themselves loving what they do. Looks like, finally I joined the club too! Great cause to feel proud, don’t you think?
Anyway, just dropped by here to tell you my news. Going forward, watch this space for information on everything related to Insurance. Subjects could range from Life and Health insurance to business, commercial and personal lines insurance.
Feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them. Since I work as Insurance Broker in Brampton, I am available for meetings if you live around here or even GTA area, We can discuss your insurance needs in person. Use the contact form on the blog.
